Looking for a non custodial parent who has to pick their kids up from Houston (or vice versa) the first, third, and fifth weekends during the school year.
I am a non custodial parent with a minivan who lives in Northwest Austin. I pick up my daughters from Houston on Friday and I return them back to Houston on Sunday around 6PM. I leave Austin around 3PM or earlier to transport the kids on both of those days. For 3 day weekends I still leave around 3PM just on the Thurs/Mon that impacts the schedule.
If you are in a similar situation I'm looking to share driving duty with someone else who lives near us and who has kids that live near my kids in Houston. My kids live near Piney Point in Houston. I take the Voss exit off of I10 to get their house. My Austin home is in the neighborhood of Millwood. I'll consider anyone within a 20 minute drive on each end of those zip codes. I think anymore than that and it will add a lot of overhead to the driving. Alternatively we can work out a meetup point that is en route which may be more expedient anyway.
Before we agree to any kind of driving arrangement I'd like to have our kids get together first just to 1) Make sure you legitimately have children 2) Make sure the kids get along - ages of my daughters are 7 years and 12 years old 3) My decree states the pickup person needs to be known to my children.
My minivan is very comfortable and seats 7 easily and has a theater entertainment console for the kids. I always bring snacks/drinks for the kids on the road and I feed them dinner as well at a fast food place. My youngest still uses a booster seat in the car. I think once she is 8 we can look at that again.
Summer and end of school are coming up soon. I think the soonest we'd be able to start something on a regular basis will be for the fall. That would give the summer to try and bring the kids together and meet.
If any of this sounds good and you want a little relief from having to drive so much like I do than please get in touch. I spend about twelve hours driving on weekends I go get the kids.
