I work for the Navy Federal Credit Union. In one of it's campuses, the one in Herndon, VA. I would greatly appreciate any others who work in this Herndon/Reston/Sterling area to commute with me. I pay close to $75 - $100 a week in gas alone! O.o
This is Murty. I live in Mclean, VA and I work in Manhattan,NYC. I have been commuting(by public transit) to the city for a while now and thought of posting here to check if anyone is carpooling and has a seat open for me. I don't have a car but would split the cost.
My work schedule usually is M-F (9-5) and I am planning to start from VA on Monday morning/Sunday evening. And return back from NYC/NJ on Friday evening.
Please feel free to reach me out.
I can easliy get from Franconia to Fredericksburg for $8.00 via the VRE.
That is if I can mail my desktop computer, 1 foot square box of stuff, and another 1 foot square box of cloths.
The trip from Fredericksburg to Ruther Glen is proveing to be quite difficult.
I was surprised to find the Greyhound bus does not have a
stop near Ruther Glen.
It only goes non stop from Fredericksburg to Richmond.
I checked some taxis, from Fredericksburg and from
Both locations will charge around $130.00 to $165.00
before 20 % tip.
This is getting very close to or more than I will have left over after I pay the renter first months and deposit.
If I opt to file another extention with VOTR, so that I may wait until I get my inheratace (perhaps on the 20th of DEC), then my schooling will be jepordized, as VOTR are trying to prohibit me from ueseing the computer.
I am looking around the 13th of DEC as my departure date. It may be sooner or later, depends on when I get my first VRAP payment.
I have also emailed several cab companies, as the phone
here does not do long distance.
I am still waiting to hear back from them.
I have 5 days to sort all this out.
I have asked my renter if he is interested in picking me up in Fredericksburg in exchange for gas and his time and trouble.
I also have 3 other people I can ask for possible rides.
I can see what they say.
I am just casting out some feelers to find my options.
I could try to hitch from Fredericksburg to Ruther Glen.
Then walk from 95 to almost 301, it looked to be about 5
to 7 miles. That is a doable walk for me.
Wellp, I'll figure something out.
